Who we are and what we're building

NADAC Intelligence

NADAC Intelligence is a small-team project from Analytic Productions. We built this platform to make the National Average Drug Acquisition Cost (NADAC) data—a weekly drug pricing benchmark published by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)—more accessible and useful.

What We Do

NADAC Intelligence transforms raw NADAC survey data into a searchable, trackable platform. We organize pricing information across individual drugs, manufacturers, drug markets, and therapeutic classes so you can quickly find what you need and understand how prices are moving.

Our Goal

Transparency. We want to help pharmacists, analysts, researchers, and anyone interested in drug pricing understand what's happening in the market. The data is public, but it shouldn't take a data engineer to make sense of it.

What You Can Do

  • Search drugs by NDC, name, or manufacturer
  • Track weekly price changes across the NADAC dataset
  • Spot pricing outliers within drug markets
  • Export data for your own analysis
  • Set up price alerts on drugs you're watching

Who We Serve

The same NADAC file gets used in very different ways depending on the seat you're sitting in. We've built the platform with four primary readers in mind:

  • Pharmacy buyers and category managers who need to benchmark their actual acquisition cost against the national average, identify generic alternatives, and catch when a supplier moves meaningfully out of line with peers.
  • Medicaid program analysts maintaining state reimbursement schedules — particularly anyone whose ingredient cost is anchored on NADAC and who needs to model the downstream impact of weekly moves.
  • Payer, PBM, and GPO contracting teams using NADAC as a transparent reference point in negotiations with manufacturers and dispensers, and as a sanity check on rebate-adjusted alternatives.
  • Researchers, journalists, and consulting analysts studying drug-pricing dynamics — generic entry, shortages, market concentration — who want clean longitudinal NADAC without writing the ETL themselves.

Data Coverage

We carry the full NADAC dataset and refresh it nightly. Today that means:

  • 60,000+ NDCs with current and historical NADAC pricing.
  • 5+ years of weekly history for every NDC CMS has ever published.
  • Drug markets grouped by nonproprietary name, manufacturer rollups across 449 normalized aliases, and therapeutic-class views based on the FDA Established Pharmacologic Class field.
  • FDA recalls joined to the manufacturer pages from the openFDA feed.

Source attribution and update cadence for each input live on /data-sources.

Editorial Standards

We do not sell pricing recommendations and we do not adjust the source NADAC values. Everything you see on a drug, manufacturer, or market page is a deterministic function of the public CMS file plus the FDA reference data we join in. Where we compute an aggregate — an average, a percentage change, an outlier flag — the formula is documented on the methodology page so you can verify or reproduce it.

Nothing on this site is medical or financial advice. NADAC is a reference benchmark, not a transaction record, and pricing, reimbursement, and clinical decisions involve considerations the dataset doesn't capture. We try to be clear about the limits of the data, particularly the channels NADAC excludes and the ~1-week publication lag.

We're always looking for ways to make this platform more useful. If you have product feedback, data questions, or are interested in consulting, reach out to us.
